    The purple color is due to traces of manganese or iron.
    Amethyst can be found in Brazil, Uruguay, India, and Sri Lanka.
    Most of the finest and darkest amethyst comes from Uruguay and is most prized by collectors.
    Large amethyst geodes are most commonly found in southern Brazil. You will find eggs, spheres, obelisks, pyramids and many other items made from amethyst.
